You have yet to be born. In fact, we haven’t even tried making you yet. We want a little one of our own so very badly but we also want to give you the best life possible. So, for now, we are waiting for a year or two to start trying. We have what many call “baby fever”. It is very infectious. But, we know that it would be much better to start a family when we have a couple of years of marriage behind us because once your here, our lives will forever change. A most beautiful change but a change we aren’t quite ready for.
I am creating this blog so that you might have a peek into your parent’s lives before you made it to this world and the beginning years of your life. The day that you will be able to read this is many, many years away and possibly “blogs” and the “internet” will be obsolete by then. Nonetheless, I hope this is a time capsule you will be able to hold onto and cherish, laugh about and feel very, very loved.
Meet your parents:
Sydney Arden Hutson (formally Dawbarn-Robinson)
Currently, I am only 22.
I work in a pre-school as an infant teacher. I love babies. I have a total of 10 babies I look after and love on. I know each of them and their personalities and I love them so much. I get a small glimpse of what it will mean to be a Mommy. I get pooped on, thrown up on, screamed and cried at. I also get smiled at, cuddled and cooed at too.
I am co-pastor at our church along with my Mom who will one day be the most wonderful Grandmother.
I am also a youth minister to teenagers. I am so very passionate for their dreams and purposes.
I love your Daddy so much, he is my very best friend. He loves me too, sometimes more than I deserve. I love talking with him, cooking with him and being so silly together. I love sharing a relationship with God with him and questioning faith together. I can’t wait to see him more than a husband but as a Father. I know he will be the best Dad- he will love you so very much. He would have you tomorrow if it was soley up to him. He dreams of building you a tree house and playing with you. I have a feeling that you will be wrapped around his little finger.
Your Daddy and I own a small handmade home decor business called Not Too Shabby. I make tea cup candles, mason jar chalices and other cute decor. Your Daddy can build lots of cool things with his hands like Barnwood Lights and he even made me a complete bed out of barnwood! We don’t make a lot of money from it but we sure do love being creative and making beautiful decor for people.
I drink coffee every morning.
I love comfort items- soft throws, candles, hot tea and good music.
I can’t sing but I pretend I can, especially on my way to work in the car.
I am happy.
I love fashion.
I love to dance. (modern, tap, ballet and jazz)
I love making a home a very special place to be. I have so much fun creating spaces that allow our personalities to shine. A place that is a sanctuary for comfort and creativity. You better believe that your nursery is going to rock.
I love a bargain- I love going to thrift stores and yard sales and finding things that will help create our home! So does your Grandma- that’s where I get it from!
Pesto, avocado, pasta, feta cheese and salad are some of my favorite foods.
Your Daddy and I love to dream up names for you. If you happen to be a girl you will be named London June Hutson. If you are a boy you will be named Mason August Hutson and you’ll go by August- it’s a weird thing your Dad’s side of the family does, ask him.
Mommy & Daddy love dancing in the kitchen while we cook- we can be so silly! We can’t wait for you to join us in the kitchen and dance and laugh along with us.
David Lucas Hutson (he goes by Lucas…told you!)
He is currently 24.
He works as a Dialysis Patient Carer at Vanderbilt. He has a very special and difficult job. He makes people who have kidney failure feel a little bit better. To do this, he has to stick a needle in them. He has very gentle hands and this makes him very good at this job. The patients adore him and often request him to do their treatment. He is so good at this he was selected to be on a special team to treat the patients who have very difficult places to stick. He will be a great healer to you when you have boo boos.
He loves theatre (he has been in many, many plays and played the main character in most).
He loves movies- he has a vast knowledge of actors and can quote so many movies and tv shows yet he can’t remember what he had for the breakfast that morning.
He loves to make people laugh- he is a jokester. I know he will be making you laugh all the time.
He loves to hunt, fish and build things- I’m sure you will get to tag along with him in all of these activities when your old enough.
He may seem very macho but he has the most sweet heart, sensitivity and compassion to the people around him, especially me. He is a wonderful listener and gives the best hugs and cuddles when you feel sad. He will kiss many a boo boo and listen to your problems when you find yourself upset or sad.
You have a very intelligent Daddy- he is so smart! He will definitely be the one you will go to when you need help with math homework, but if it’s english or spelling you better come to me! 😉
His favorite foods are pizza, pasta, and meat- especially things like buffalo.
He is the biggest goof ball around- I have a feeling the two of you will be getting in lots of trouble together!
He loves to journal in the journal Mommy got him during our first year of dating. He brings that thing with him pretty much everywhere he goes. He doodles, writes, prays and brainstorms in that journal. I love looking through it and seeing how his brain works and how creative and spiritual he is! Remind me to show it to you one day- you will probably find your name doodled in it a time or two.
Your Daddy and I have kept a memory box since the first year we started dating. It is filled with love letters, ticket stubs to shows we’ve gone together, plane tickets and lots of other reminders of the fun things and adventures we have gone through together. Soon, we will need much bigger boxes for when you arrive because there will be an extra person’s memories to record. On our anniversary every year, we open each box and go through each item. I can’t wait until you’re old enough to join us in this- it is so fun and rewarding!
This is just a little bit about us before you have been around. I am sure we will have grown and changed a little by the time we have you. Remember that we already think about, dream about and love you- it’s just a tiny glimpse of how God must love God’s children. We are so curious how you will look and whether you will be a boy or a girl. We often talk about how we will raise you and parent you together. Know that you are so so loved already and when you decide to make an entrance into this world the love will just be overflowing for you!
We will continue to update this blog with stories, feelings, experiences we have.
